To handle wildcard matches, you just need to return those from your back-end page that formats the results as JSON.  For example, you might do a LIKE SQL query (such as: select product_name from products where product_name like ‘%’ + @query + ‘%’) to return matches similar to the video.

In addition, if you don’t want the rest of the word to be highlighted as you’re typing, use this setting:

autoCompleteFirstMatch : boolean (default = true)

If set to true, the input box will automatically populate the first match for the text entered, and highlight the remaining characters. If set to false, the input box will always display only what the user types until a selection is made.

Hope that helps!

i have not talked about any query on sql server! i dont want to send ajax(or http) requests on my server. So the question is: Can i create that effect on client side? the client gets alla the data on the combo and then filter/and format on its side using javascript... thank you

Out of the box, that’s not possible, but I can look into client-side filtering for a future release.

If you’re up to it, you could try modifying the FlexBox code to do what you want.  I’ve tried to keep it well-orgnanized.

Thanks,

Noah
